Great article. However, while the neurocalometer may have given the AMA more ammunition, the real war was "science" vs. "religion". Allopathic medicine was given favor by the government after the Flexner Report in 1910. The Flexner Report recommended standardized medical education and stated the medical education should be "arduous and expensive". That had the effect of limiting the number of schools and doctors, increasing the prestige of physicians and thus driving up the cost of health care.
The rant against chiropractic as "unscientific" is based on the idea that science must be based on atheism. It is an interesting coincidence that the neurocalometer was developed at the same time that the fight for teaching evolution in the public schools was being fought - see Scopes Monkey Trial.
Thanks for a great article.

This is a good article, thanks for sharing it! This is a new twist on an old story I haven't seen before. I'd heard mixed things about the Lerner Report as a resource, questioning its veracity on some matters, but I'd like to know more about these confidential files and documents of Frank Elliot.

WOW! That was an amazing article. I found it very interesting how Dossa Evins inadvertently began chiropractic's problems. Pretty eye-opening.

I am deeply sadden over the death of one of our great legends in Chiropractic. Dr. Karl truly gave 100 percent of himself to keep us going in the Chiropractic profession. He and his dad Dr. Jim were overwhelmingly passionate that we make sure that Chiropractic gets understood and utilized by people all over the world. Lets pick up the flame from their candles and spread the message of this Chiropractic Healing LIGHT to our planet.

I for one agree with adding to the scope of practice. If you don't want to do it, don't. How I look at it as I am in the health business, not the just the adjusting business. I wish at times when a patient comes in with discogenic findins that I could prescribe a antinflammatory medication but cannot, so I send them to urgent care and they get a muscle relaxer instead. My point is that I am all for getting advanced credentials and putting the time in for it. Call it Advanced Physician training I don't care, just having the extra ability to handle difficult cases would be nice.

I'm really not surprised. After all, our chiropractic colleges are teaching almost everything but TIC. Those of us whose innate is tuned in will continue to walk and talk the talk. We must have schools that reflect the teachings of DD and BJ.
